Professional Accredited Counsellor for Adults, Children and Young People, Ballynahinch, Co.Down, Northern Ireland
Who I am
I have been a counsellor for over 14 years and have experience in counselling adults, children and young people in the NHS, Schools and Voluntary Sector.
I am fully qualified and accredited with the BACP and also have a specialist qualification and experience in counselling children and young people. I am able to offer professional and confidential counselling for adults, children and young people in a discreet environment.
I appreciate that taking the step to seek out a counsellor can be a daunting thing for most whatever age you are. I value the uniqueness and worth of each individual and will put you or your child at the centre of the process.
My counselling approach is called Integrative, which is where different counselling approaches are blended throughout the process. A way of working together that is tailored to meet your individual needs.
How will counselling help you?
Life brings all kinds of challenges and you can often struggle at such times. I aim to offer a warm, accepting and non-judgemental counselling space that can help you with issues such as anxiety, low mood, bereavement and loss, relationship issues, anger, stress, the impact of abuse, self esteem, divorce and separation and many other issues that can affect people of all ages.
Sometimes in life you can find yourself self experiencing these kind of life challenges and emotional difficulties that are difficult cope with alone. As an accredited and experienced counsellor I hope to help support you at such times whether you are an adult seeking support for yourself or for your child.
Counselling offers a therapeutic relationship where difficulties can be explored and processed enabling you to feel strengthened and better able to cope with life's challenges. Because I understand that coming to counselling and opening up to another person can be difficult and you most likely feel very nervous; I always seek to provide warmth, acceptance and a non-judgemental counselling relationship in line with the BACP ethical framework.
The first step
Once you have emailed or contacted me by phone I will arrange an appointment for the first session and send you an assessment form to complete. This initial assessment session is where you can find out more about how counselling works and give some background about what has led you to seek counselling. It is also a chance for you to find out whether you will feel comfortable talking to me. If you are seeking help for your child then this initial session can be a joint parent/child one to enable you both to meet with me and explore the counselling process.
I offer face to face counselling within a private, discreet setting in my own dedicated counselling room in Ballynahinch, Co Down. (I also offer some evening appointments available in a private and fully accessible room in Lisburn, Co Antrim.)
If you are interested do get in touch by phone or email and ask for an initial assessment session to find out if this is the right way forward for you (or your child).
